Lori, what is CoolSculpting and who can benefit from this FDA-cleared technology?
CoolSculpting is the world’s leading non-invasive fat reduction procedure. Results are proven and permanent. The procedure has been done more than 8 million times worldwide since 2010. It can help most people dealing with problem areas, including diet and exercise resistant fat.
What’s the science behind CoolSculpting, how does it work and what treatment areas can it target?
CoolSculpting targets fat cells underneath the skin without damaging the skin or surrounding tissue. The treated fat cells are frozen, die and are eliminated naturally. CoolSculpting can target the abdomen, flanks (love handles), upper arms, double chin, inner and outer thighs, distal thigh (area above the knee), and the area under the buttocks.
Wendy, what does a client experience during a treatment session?
We use a pre-treatment skin wipe on the treatment area and then a gel pad is applied as a secondary layer of protection. Then the light suction is turned on and the applicator is placed on the treatment area. Patients will feel the cooling begin but the area will go numb within 5-10 minutes. Many people fall asleep, watch movies or read during their treatment. Treatment times vary depending on the area of the body, but it’s normally 35 minutes. We have invested in two machines, so we can treat two areas of the body at the same time, which is an added convenience for our guests. Learn more on our website.
Is there any discomfort during or after treatments?
There’s a two-minute massage immediately following treatment. It can be uncomfortable for some patients, but it provides optimal results. The treated area may become red, swollen, bruised or tender, but these symptoms diminish over time. Most people resume their normal activities the next day.
