Nick, please introduce your company?
Freedom Boat Club is the world’s largest members-only boat club based in Venice (originally founded in Sarasota). Our vision is to make boating simple and make getting on the water more accessible. We were founded in 1989 to provide members a hassle-free recreational boating experience. We have more than 285 locations in the U.S., Canada, France, and the United Kingdom, and more than 65,000 members worldwide. Our company was acquired by the Brunswick Corporation in 2019. Brunswick is a leader in the marine industry with boat brands such as Sea Ray, Boston Whaler, Bayliner, Harris Pontoons, and more, as well as Mercury engines.
How does being a member of your boat club work?
Members pay a one-time entry fee and monthly dues. We train every new member who joins through a New Member Orientation (NMO) that includes classroom and on the water training with a Coast Guard-certified boat captain. Members can request additional free training as part of our training support. After the NMO, new members can access our reservation system to select the location, day, and vessel for their next boating adventure.
Where are your club locations in Sarasota and Charlotte County?
Our area locations include Marina Jack and Hidden Harbor Marina in Sarasota, Marine Max and La Guna Drive in Venice, Ainger Creek Marina and Cape Haze Marina in Englewood, and Laishley Park Marina and Burnt Store Marina in Punta Gorda. We also have club locations in Bradenton, Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Pine Island, Naples, and multiple locations in Tampa Bay. We have 70 locations throughout Florida.
Can a member reserve a boat at other locations in Florida or other states?
Yes. We offer members a variety of plans to fit different needs. Several plans include the option of reciprocity with other club locations.
What about people with no prior boating experience?
We welcome members with little or no prior boating experience. Out comprehensive training builds confidence so that all of our members can enjoy their time on the water.
What would you like to share about your current position and prior experience?
I support the branding, advertising, and communication needs for Freedom Boat Club. My prior experience includes working with teams at World Beer Bar & Kitchen, The Boston Beer Company, and Vistaprint.
