Meet Financial Advisor Peter Mason – Editor’s Note: We spoke with Peter Mason, the owner of Mason Financial Group associated with Raymond James Financial Services. His office is located at 447 W. Dearborn Street and the number is 941-548-3170. The website is MasonFinancialGrp.com.
Peter, tell us a little about your business as a Financial Advisor?
I provide my clients with strategies and solutions to help them meet their financial goals. We focus on outstanding service and knowledgeable advice. I love my job. When we can help people send their kids to college, retire with peace of mind or check things off their bucket list, it makes me incredibly happy and proud.
When did you get involved with the financial services industry?
Financial service runs in my blood. My grandfather started a foreign exchange company in New York in the 1930s. My dad did that for years as well before opening an A.G. Edwards branch in Englewood in 1976. I joined him in 1997 after college and have been enjoying it ever since. I stay up to date by reading, attending seminars and interacting with other professionals.
Where were you born and what’s your local history in Englewood?
I was born in Morristown, NJ and my family moved to Florida when I was a baby. I’ve always been active in our community. I am a Past President of The Englewood Chamber of Commerce, current member of the Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary, and I’ve served on many nonprofit boards. I also coach youth sports; it’s one of my most important jobs.
What would you like to share about your family?
I married my high school sweetheart, Tracy, and we have three kids in three different schools. Our brilliant son Matt is a freshman at the University of Chicago, my middle son Peyton is a scholar-athlete in the sixth grade at LA Ainger, and my creative genius daughter Annsley attends fourth grade at Englewood Elementary School. Our Golden Retriever, Ziggy, is cool too.
Can Englewood retain its small-town sensibilities in the face of rapid growth?
It’s certainly getting more difficult. My hope is that we are far enough from I-75 that we can retain our small-town sensibilities. Responsible growth is challenging with so many people wanting to live here.
What are some of your other interests, and what do you enjoy most about your work?
I enjoy spending time at the beach, boating, cooking, traveling, attending concerts, and time with my family. My clients become friends, and I love when they achieve their goals!
