Editor’s Note: We spoke with Dr. Gary Bolen at Venice Village Chiropractic to learn more about spinal decompression technology and the use of the DRX9000. His office is located at 4140 Woodmere Park Blvd., Suite 2 in Venice. Call 941-497-7424. Learn more online at VeniceVillageChiropractic.com.
Dr. Bolen, what kinds of conditions can be helping with the DRX9000?
Moderate forms of back pain can be treated with rest, ice and heat therapy and over the counter medications. More serious issues often require stronger medications, cortisone injections, physical therapy, and surgery. Not all patients are getting positive results from these options and that’s why I added the DRX9000 to my practice. We’re getting positive results using the DRX9000 to help patients dealing with herniated and bulging discs, spinal stenosis, sciatica, facet syndromes, and degenerative disc disease. It’s also non-invasive with no discomfort or downtime.
How does the DRX9000 technology work?
The DRX9000 is a spinal decompression treatment that relaxes and stretches the spine slowly to eliminate the pressures of gravity and friction. We have a short video on our website that goes into more detail on the anatomy of the spinal column and why stretching is beneficial. In summary, the release of pressure creates an opening (vacuum) between the disks that allows the flow of oxygen, fluids and vital nutrients that are necessary for healing. Decompression is targeted to either the cervical or lumbar areas.
What can you share about the treatment plan?
The treatment plan varies based on the patient, their needs and the severity of their condition. Keep in mind we are often working with patients that are dealing with persistent pain and bulging or herniated discs. Sessions are typically 20 minutes in length and many patients require 12 to 24 sessions over two to three months depending on their needs. Some patients continue coming in weekly or every other week after the initial treatments.
You are also offer LED Light Therapy; what’s that entail?
LED Light Therapy can be used to target areas on the face, back, arms, chest, abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. It’s a popular and more affordable method of body contouring. Patients have different needs from dropping a few inches or reducing their waistline and girth. We use soft flexible pads to focus the light on the targeted areas.
